There's an old joke, that boys of that age get erections if the wind blows the wrong way. It's partially overactive hormones (he's heading into his sexual peak, will be there in a few years) and partially that he probably likes you. It's a very embarrassing thing. Ever liked a boy and you're embarrassed to let him know? Or imagine your best friend shouting across a crowded hallway that you masturbate. Kind of the same thing--his feelings for you are glaringly obvious, out there for everyone to see. Not only does he like you, but you turn him on. He may not even be sure how he feels for you, may be embarrassed to tell you he likes you, or may simply value your friendship too much to take it that direction. And unfortunately, guys can't control that sort of thing; it just happens. You're a really good friend though for trying to reassure him that you understand.

guess it's normal for a guy to have an erection when talking to someone he feels strongly for...not everything is about sex
the very fact he feels embarrased means that he's not thinking about sex, but a lot factors contribute to the erection, especially psychological factors
don't worry too much about it....talk to him and make him feel at ease with himself

At 15 all boys get an errection if a girl even comes into view. But, if you aren't interested in him at least tell him now and let him down easy. He obviously gets an errection because he wants you.

Just stick w/ him! If you stop being friends, then he'd REALLY be embarrassed. And then how would you feel, you broke up your friendship just because he has... um, an attraction to you? If it was me, I would go talk to him to make him feel at least a little better about it...

This happens to boys his age all the time and is completely normal. He has to handle it his own way though. There isn't much you can say to take away his embarassment.

That is really scary/funny. Sorry.
I think that means he really really likes you. I would just try to ignore it as long as you can.
