Hi, last october i was in a wreck and the right side of my spine swelled up. Since then, I've had to put a stop to dancing and all the other sports i do. Id really like to get back into the groove of things, and work on my dancing again. So, any tips on how to become better?
Oh and for the record, I do salsa, ballroom, swing...basically anything but hip hop.

➔ Dancing
Start slow and work your way up
start with simple stretches (lots of stregthening stretches for your back)
Dance for a short period of time each day... just enough to get your body well adjusted...
then, increase the time over the next few weeks.
just stay positive and safe... never push yourself too hard in the beginning... injuring yourself will only put you back.

Injuries are unique. Go slow and listen to your body. Don't push it on the floor. You should be doing stretching and strength exercises when possible and where appropriate to your injury. Now everything I just said, you should check out with a doctor before doing. Re injury is often worse that the injury itself and happens because folks over do it. If you are feeling strong now, work on holding your frame for each type of dance. That will help you reestablish good form and get you strong again. Good luck

A friend of mine got a wicked bad spinal injury from a car accident, and her PT told her to do exercises in a swimming pool to get it back to full strength. The water is often cooler than the air, keeping the swelling down, and the resistance of the water makes it harder to hurt oneself easily. Maybe doing the same dance movements underwater would help.

Put on your favorite song and watch yourself in a mirror and practice a little every day and have fun with it. Sorry about the wreck by the way.

Don't push yourself too hard too fast.
Definitely keep at it a little at a time and you will only improve.
Maybe get a physical therapist to give you some tips or a professional dance instructor, but make sure you make them aware of your injuries.
Good Luck

Stretch ALOT, being versatile is between the main serious issues. the different maximum serious ingredient is potential, because of the fact your no longer likely to get your leaps without leg muscle. do no longer in hassle-free terms concentration on one section to augment, because you decide on all of them. have confidence me, I actually have a ton of calf muscle, yet basically approximately no quadricep muscle, and it makes it somewhat perplexing to do particular strikes. attempt googling dance stretches and strengthening workouts. you additionally can circulate to youtube and watch diverse dance video clips and get a sense of what you would be doing. attempt to stretch known, and do strengthening workouts another day. (Doing potential workouts known does not enable your muscle to advance, so there is not any element in doing that daily.) additionally consume healthful, because of the fact your no longer likely to sense super in case you basically ate candies after which you attempt to bounce.
