You don't have to be white to be racist. There are just as many racist black people. They are just more accepted be our culture. Look at comedians- you can make fun of whites if you are anything other, but don't dare if you are white. You will be stoned by the media.
But you are right. Who cares what color your skin is? It shouldn't matter.

Webster defines racism as: a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.
With this in mind, read what you have written and ask yourself if it sounds as if you believe that belonging to a certain race would make someone (yourself) a more superior person. If that be the case then I challenge you to look within yourself for the answer to your question.
I hope that my answer doesn't offend anyone and for those who may be curious, I see people for who they are not what race they belong to, as a matter of fact, I am ivory and my other half is ebony.

It's a reaction against things that are different. Unfortunately many people can't accept individuals on the basis of their personality. They put them into groups based on their looks, which is rather sad as they are missing out on a whole bunch of good things, like experiencing different cultures.
It's also worth noting that many minority groups are themselves racist, in as much that they accuse other people of being racist at the drop of a hat, and expect preferential treatment.

Racism is a short cut people to create an impression of others without spending the effort to get to know them personally.
The thing about racism is that it is not in-born, it is taught, whether voluntarily or not. We pick up clues about how to behave from the people around us, and especially as children tend to copy what the adults around us do.
It is understandable that people of the previous generation might be more racist. That has to do with the opportunities they have had to meet people of other races and in the contexts they met these people. If you tend to see one race, say only when you borrow money, you might tend to think of that race as one of money lenders, and associate characteristics such as avarice and so on to them.
However, nowadays, with more education and opportunities for everyone, with people of different races getting to know each other in schools and at work, racism should slowly decline.
Of course apart from the above, there are characteristics of individuals that increase the chances of them being racist, such as insecurity, low self-esteem...
So people are racist because of some inherent characteristics they have, because of how they grew up, because of a lack of opportunity to interact with people of other races at various levels in everyday life, and because of laziness.

Racist people make me laugh, they say hey you N*gga, or any other racist remark,
But these are the people who sit on a beach or on there garden with there clothes off trying to get a SUN TAN!
To be darker skinned....
Racist people are retarded.
One thing that annoys me are people who expect racism, so they are really uptight and act like total gits. These people need to learn, not everyone is a racist, so dont be racist back.

Because some people think that everybody should be the same as them. Or if something goes wrong they want to find someone to blame. Plus they're being mean and rude.

Because it's something they LEARN. I work in a baby store and it's so cute to see little children become friends and run around with eachother. They don't see that one is black and the other is white!

Because they don't like people who aren't the same as them - it is more about identity than colour - infact most of the strife in this world is about identity - when you get right down to it !

most people that are racist have hatred of different races drilled into them by their parents at an early age. it`s like anything else, for instance, if your parents vote labour, you are more likely to vote labour, or if your dad supports man united, you are apt to do the same.
