What is it with Korea & the first snow?

Whenever I watch Korean movies/series, the first snow is always mentioned, esp in love stories. I tried googling for this but I usually get bored of googling when I can't find what I'm looking for on the first page. I anyone can give me any details/ point me to the right website, I'd really appreciate it.
