Suprise!!Guess what.My cat used to do this too.I found out it's a proven fact that when a
cat kills something and it seems like it brought it to you or left it for you it is a sign of affection and appreciation to you.If I were you I'd be happy to know your cat loves you.As for the bird just wrap it in some news paper and put it in a garbage bag and toss it in the woods or in
the garbage if pick up is soon. You don't want the poor birdy stinkin'.My cat killed two birds on two different ocassions and left them in my bed!
It's their way of giving you a gift.

I hope you said "Thank You! Soooo Much!" You got a great gift, Hon! After going through a great rapture of gratitude...wrap the bird in a paper towel or newspaper...take a ride & toss the bird into the woods. (not the wrapping, just the bird)...don't bury it on your property, because the cat will know, & wonder horribly why you didn't eat it.

Bury it and move on. It was a natural act for the cat to either kill the bird or to take it if it were already dead. Don't get upset over it.

The cat is bringing you a present. Showing you his love and affection for you.
I have a cat who does the same thing all the time. He will bring it to the porch and then meow at me until I open the door. He stands there looking at me until I tell him that he is a good boy and then he walks off and goes about his business.
When the cat is not looking then just toss it somewhere it doesn't matter, what matters is that you don't let the cat see what you do with it.
And the main thing is to praise your cat for the present. Tell him he is a good boy and reach over and pet him.

Hi Kat,
Mine does the same thing! Handle it as little as possible by using paper towels or something disposable to pick the bird up with. Put it in the trash if it's outside and well protected, otherwise, bury it in the yard, at least 6" deep.

My cat brought me a dead mouse once. I told her that it was gross and threw it in the trash. Yuck! Two days later she brought me a live chipmunk. Cats bring dead and alive animals as a loving gift to you. Sweet cat. Gross bird. Pitch it.

Thank your cat. He or she has brought you an offering to show his or her appreciation to you. Whatever you do with the bird, don't let the cat know that you just threw it away

The reason your cat brought you a dead bird is that you are the "Alpha" in the relationship between you two. The "Alpha" always gets to eat first.
Just dispose of it properly.

Accept the bird, cause cats will bring special little gifts, like birds, rats, or anything they can get their paws on. Your cat is telling how much it loves you and appreciates you. So enjoy the little gifts, even when their discusting.
