Allmann Brothers win by a nose over Skynard. Hell, they started the southern Rock genre.

Of the Southern rock genre my favorite was always The Allman Bros. Maybe they are more blues rock. So maybe Skynyrd.
Heres the other contenders in that genre to the best of my memory:
Charlie Daniels Band
Marshall Tucker Band
Wet Willie
Grinderswitch
38 Special
Stillwater
Thats all I can think of. Skynyrd beats all of these.

Pink Floyd is the all time best band from the 70's.
