It's not always your fault. I have cable. Sometimes I click, and I'm there. Other sites take longer - one in particular. Sometimes the other site has a slow response. Sometimes, it depends on the time of day. Morning and night best. Afternoon bad. Holidays and weekends especially bad. Think of it as taking a shower and someone flushes the toilet!

When was the last time you deleted your temporary internet files?
When was the last time you deleted your old cookies?
When was the last time you defragged your hard drive?

That's enough to start with.
