I am currently employed in Corporate Finance and I would want a doctorate degree so that I can teach when I retire. I also want to use the doctorate to move up the corporate ladder. How much should I spend for an affordable online doctorate (DBA or PhD)?

Thanks for the tip on the scam. I guess I should veer away from these online degrees. Can I use portfolio management as my dissertation topic?

You do realize that no credible university will grant you a PhD online, right. Normally, a PhD would take someone 5-7 years fulltime.

Walden University claims to have an accredited PhD program in Applied Management. It takes 4.5 years to do this online (according to their site). Realize that an online PhD is pretty much an obvious scam. It looks more like a glorified master's degree without the teaching/research requirements.

Edit: Oh, it seems that this program is only regionally accredited by only one organization. That only speaks to the notion that this is not a "real" PhD.
