You could get a virus-infected file through Limewire.
Using the program legally is legal. Using it illegaly is illegal. Obtaining media through limewire that is protected by copyright without establishing your right to that protected material by either purchasing it from a legitimate vendor, or through a direct agreement with the owner of the copyright (which accounts for most of what people do with the program, despite the risk,) is illegal. It's pretty much "theft," from a moral and legal perspective.
Despite what some people may have you believe, there are legitimate free sites for high-quality music.
This site seems to be down right now, so try it later.

Limewire is free, but not everything that is free is necessarily "free." Limewire allows access to certain folders on hard drive, and thus of millions others around the world via if I'm not mistaken the gnutella network. Regardless you can fill these folders on your computer with anything. All it takes is a little search on limewire and boom that file popped up. But for the more creative, by simply changing the file name of a file, you might end up finding that exact file and end up with a big trojan. So it is dangerous, now on the other hand file sharing itself is not illegal it's the file that is illegal. It's like ups and fedex, you can ship a box to pretty much anywhere and pretty much anything, but it's up to you on what you put it that box, you can put flowers or you can put 10kilos of cocaine. So by installing limewire itself you will not get a virus or spyware, but by downloading certain things you might be exposing yourself to viruses and that file might not be legal. Hope this answers your question

it is illegal ur getting songs for free it is just like stealing. I dont think it gives you any virusses but it depends on what you download i guess a virus could come from anything even going to a website.
