I just walk away real fast before I say something that I can't take back! It helps to diffuse the situation and I have time to think, clear my head, and "cool down", before I decide to come back and face the music. Usually it's a situation at work.

People who know me find that I tend to walk away from the situation knowing that I'll eventually come back to discuss why something made me angry.
If you act while within an emotion; you may just regret it later.

I lock myself in my room, lie down, close my eyes and listen to soft music. It really cools me down. Sometimes I try to write everything in my diary, but often I'm too angry to write anything comprehensively and I start scribbling, but anyway it keeps me from doing anything silly.

I imagine it's a year later. And ask myself, "did it fix anything?" or "was it worth it?" And every time the answer is no.
Trust me, this works!
