The computer is an awesome thing and I like to interact with it. You can play games, talk to friends, see your credit score, you can look up anything imaginable on here. The TV is almost absolete. Even while watching TV,commericials will tell you to go to their website cause everyone knows we like the computer.Soooo much you can do on here that you cant do sitting in front of the TV screen...It's call 'interacting' with the world around you. And you can learn about anything. TV, you have to wait for a show, you can look it up on the pc and read about it and learn about it, instead of just watching it...learn about what you're watching. He doesnt understand. He doesnt know anything about pc's but how to type in a word or phase into the search bar and click "Go'. Should he be hard on me? I spend a few hours on here while he's out there in his shop, it gives me something to do.I'll pick a 'best answer'.

i guess he's worried that he'll lose you to a machine...the computer can get really addictive you know

but you must do everything in moderation....it's a good distraction but human interaction and life is more important

be thankful you have an understanding bf next to you and cherish it, plus there are other things in life to enjoy than a machine

It's only harmful if your computer monitor, keyboard, mouse and chair are set up in a way that causes shoulder pain, arm pain, back pain etc. That kind of pain can be caused by repetitive motion or your sitting position while you're at your desk; just a little something I learned during my years as a Yahoo! employee.

I get those types of pain if I don't keep myself in good posture and my "workstation" set up right.

Don't get me wrong, though -- as a programmer by trade, I was probably spending many more hours at my desk than most, so you might even be able to ingore the above.

Other than that, unless your computer usage is making you oblivious to your bf's existence -- and you're clearly not since you're talking about him here because you've taken the time to ask Yahoo! Answers users for opinions/advice -- I say let U B U. lol It seems pretty clear to me that you hear him loud and clear but disagree -- as you probably should. :)

It might be his way of saying he wants more attention, but once again, if this is something you do while he's doing his shop thang (and he probably spends as much time doing that as you do with your PC) then tell him to shut up! :D

I spend plenty of time online, too. I just got myself a nice Samsung monitor that lets me pipe the output from my DVR onto my monitor so I can watch and compute at the same time. I also use the internet for every-d@mn-thing, I swear (like ordering my new monitor, for example lol)!

Good luck!

You say he doesn't know anything about PCs ...Is he afraid you will get ahead of him? If he is, and you are, is he willing to learn? If so, teach him all you can - gently - without making him feel inferior. The more he learns, the more confortable he will be on it.

I have a similar problem which I attribute to sports. So much easier to watch a ball go from left to right than learn something. My husband is simply not digitally inclined. He watches sports, I go online. If he teases me, I turn a deaf ear or go on the other computer out of sight.

I really don't think the problem is you, **** I spend almost 20 hours a day on a machine, and I can almost type in my sleep! I dont go outside at all, and I order pizzas online. You can even watch TV on your computer, and remember your the one that controls when you guys have sex, so maybe he just wants more sex or something.

Two questions.

1. Is it harming anyone? What you described is harmless.

2. Should he lighten up on me?

Absolutely. Find some websites which feature pictures and stories about something that interests him. Show him some value in browsing the internet.
