Humans think they are intelligent because they can create, invent, use and discover new technologies so that they can use it.
But on the long run just this ability will work against their Abilities.
But for real just this technology is slowing the Humans down because they rely on it so much and they make themselves so depend on it.
Other Life forms might not need Technology as Humans know it.
They might use just mathematical formulas and Theories.
Humans need a spaceship to travel to the Moon.
Another Lifeform might have just learned to use the connection between two Points in space.
A connection the Humans just can not see because they think they need Technology to discover it.
The whole answer of the universe is in the Brain.
If Humans stop to use their Brains because they are so fixed on technology than they must not be surprised that they need so long to discover things.
Humans need more Thinkers like Einstein.
But Thinkers are getting rare on this Planet.
That is because Humans looking for an easy way and looking up answers on the internet instead to use their own brain.
That is the reason what’s slowing the whole Human process down.

Not yet we are just arrogant enough to think we.
We as a species are still very gullible and get sucked into cult of personality.
Remember WW2 was only 60 years ago.
Nearly half the world gave up freedom for a dream of fascism.
The individual may be moderately bright but as a species we have a long way to go.
Even the best and brightest of us still only is tapping into 5% of the potential power of the human brain.
We are so wrapped up in disagreeing with each other and fighting over petty differences in religious ideology, still buried with cultural differences.
Instead of setting theology aside and embracing our differences.
If and hopefully when we can work more as a team we as a race will take drastic leaps forward in mental development and as a species start to further evolve into the next stage, a better wiser human race. We are only as intelligent as our most ignorant, and since the world as a whole is rife with ignorance this dumbs us all down.
That said our religious and political leaders don't want a wiser more intelligent populous, they would question decisions and be harder to fool and control.
So sorry no I don't think we are yet but hopefully we will get there some day

I think intelligence is really based in the circumstances in which it is needed. By this I mean to say that you can't really compare our intelligence to that of other species because they may be "intelligent" in their own environment, but not in ours. If one of us was suddenly thrown into their environment and asked to survive would this individual suddenly become the "dumb" one? Intelligence in this sense is based only on surroundings. But what is intelligence anyway? I think it is a label to describe how we envision our own minds and how they work. So if I had to say a definite yes or no, I guess I would go with yes, because we know how to thrive in our habitat.

well I think intelligence is relative. I mean, we are much more intelligent than say.... rocks and algae, somewhat more intelligent than dolphins and dogs like german shepherds. But decidedly less intelligent than God. We are the only created beings on earth who ponder our own intelligence and seek to expand it, so I guess that counts for something, right?

Yes, extremly. When compared to other species here on earth, we are obviously the most intelligent. No other species has been able to build quite the infastructures that we have.
