I currently play the piccolo in Marching Band and next year I want to be a majorette, but I'm not sure exactly what they "do". Does anyone have any possible tips? (10 points for best answer)

Do you mean drum major? The person in front of the band that conducts?

This is the person that gives all the marching command in a parade, and conducts during a field drill. At a high school level, they are looking for someone with leadership, decisiveness, and who looks sharp when they march and conduct.
Learn what kind of commands the drum major gives - does your band use vocal commands, whistle commands, baton commands? Know what they are and how to do them so they look sharp and can be understood by the band. Learn the basics of conducting - you wont have to do anything fancy, just simple 2/4 and 4/4 patterns usually, but they should look good and strong. And learn how to salute - for some reason that was always a big thing in my high school band.
