I don't think you can improve performance on an ancient w 116.You can however possibly find some amg tuners for you.Or you can get a new exhaust system to increase horsepower.I have a 1981 300 D Mercedes and I cant find anything to increase performance drastically. You should just get a Mercedes 6.9 engine in your 450 SEL.You cant really find after market parts for a Mercedes before 1995 because these cars were low volume cars before ,hand-built jewels of engineering. How ever if you had a newer car it should be quite easy to find after market parts.

Try finding these
High Performance tuning for Euro and import cars
Brabus shops
AMG MERCEDES Shops
Why don't you just contact a Mercedes dealer maybe they can give you some contacts.

Your Mercedes is fuel-injected not carbureted. It was reasonably quick as it was, though being such a heavy car it will be hard to make it much faster without some serious modifications. As I recall looking under the hood of those cars, there would not be much room to add a supercharger, even if you could find someone to fabricate the necessary parts to add it.

You might be better off selling the car in original condition and looking around for one of the 12 cylinder 600s. I see them in the paper fairly cheap these days, and they certainly have the power.

That's great but since that car is fuel injected a carburetor wont help. Try to find heads made by Brabus they made them years ago. Since that is such an old car and not one that was much modified it will be hard to find performance parts.

Go to any after market performance shop,,they will be able to match you up with an adapter for most any kind of Carburetor
