I bet you could find the answer to your question on the internet!

Just kidding! I asked the same question, and am convinced it's because they like the social interaction and input from a lot of different people.

I wondered about that for awhile too....but it really doesn't make sense, that in a world where we want to get acquainted with lots of people, at least I do, Moocha gives us a good answer. While it appears that a lot of folks are lazy, it they were really lazy, they wouldn't even log on the net or Yahoo Answers either, so, I go with the idea that we are curious about what the other person thinks, whether we agree or not. And since everyone has a opinion, I rather enjoy reading all the various opinions,,,even with those I don't agree. SO let em keep on opineing. (That's not a mis-spelling, just the way some folks pronounce opinion.) lol

Because there are "all those rumors on those internets" as our president put it. People on Yahoo Answers are real people, responding to questions so quickly and with such precision that it's unlikely people are trying to lie to one another. It's a sure fire way to get a question answered and get a lot of good responses quickly. Research on the 'net involves time (most people are lazy), and involves figuring out which sources are right and which are wrong (most people are stupid, too). That's why Yahoo Answers is good for them - they solve both of these problems... at least in theory. :-)

Aside from the obvious answer (laziness), there's also the possibility that the answerer will have some very valuable first-hand knowledge on whatever the subject happens to be. For instance, someone on Yahoo Answers happened to ask about mystery writer Ed McBain, and another fellow had actually met and talked to him, so his input was quite specific rather than general. That's just one example, but I think you can see what I mean.

Good question. I've thought that too since I started using Answers. Could it be they are just lazy and want others to do their foot work? Ironic, isn't it. They use a net service like Answers, but not a search engine.

In some cases their poor spelling ability keeps them from searching properly on the internet.
Others put in the wrong keywords and get lots of stray results that discourage them.

Lazyness. Or people simply don't know how to look for an answer. Or get confused by the number of answers they get when they try to google for an answer.
Take your pick.
