You may be thinking of an episode of "The Twilight Zone" called "The Long Morrow."
Robert Lansing plays Douglas (not David), who falls in love with a woman played by Mariette Hartley. He's an astronaut about to go on a long mission, during which he'll be in suspended animation. While he's gone, Mariette Hartley is put in suspended animation so she'll remain younger. However, unbeknownst to her, he shut off the suspended animation so that he would be the same age as she. Instead, he's now old while she's remained young.

The only film I have ever seen like that is with Mel Gibson in Forever Young, He is a test pilot and thinks that his girl has been killed so he allows his mate to use him as his experiment and he freezes him. Sorry I can't be of more help .

Are you sure its not the guy who gets frozen? Cause it sounds a lot like Forever Young with Mel Gibson, Jamie Lee Curtis and Elijah Wood. If not, sorry I don't know.

Batman Forever I think is what your talking about. When Mr. Freez's wife get's sick and he freezes her so she can stay alive until he can find a cure.
