To remove the alternator remove both of the engine mounts at the front of the motor (on top, connect to the top of rad support). DISCONNECT BATTERY. Remove the belt. Remove all retaining bolts holding alternator to engine. Place the bolt you remove (with one of the engine mounts) back into its slot on the left side (trans end) engine bracket. Now you can use this as a location for installing a pry bar to rock the engine forward. You may need to remove the alternator bracket to wiggle it out. You may also need to remove the right side wiper transmission arm (very easy, loosen both 8mm or 5/16 bolts holding it on at pivot point, just above centre of engine). Then just wiggle it out, sounds difficult, it's really not, I've done dozens........the reason you may or may not have to remove wiper rod/alt bracket is the silhouette/venture/transport vans had 2 different alternators available, 105 amp and 140 amp.
Hope this helps
