Terrorism is "The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons." -Dictionary.com.

The invasion of Iraq would only have been stopped if Saddam 's regime stepped down from power. This would change the countries society and government due to the "war on terror" (an ideological reason) and for political gain. That is the definition of terrorism. How can you fight a war on terrorism if you embrace it for your own gains?

Well put. It's a good question. USA did more damage by intervening and I dont mean by the war itself. I mean the soldiers who went around harassing women and children and raping the victims of war. It has all been underplayed by the media and surely no one is going to do anything about it.
It's sad what the world is coming to. I just hope USA makes up for all the damage it did in Iraq. If US government can take loans for waging a war then it should do the same to undo the damage and if they cant find the soldiers who hurt the civilians, the government should compensate them with new houses and other provisions, besides investigating the soldiers.

Saddam's regime was not a government. Saddam's regime was an entity engaged in kidnapping and torturing a whole country. The USA was stopping a crime. One that went on for far too long because the Arab world could not police it's own.
Get an education and get back with us.

The Iraqi's participated in democratic elections, and they did so of their own free will. The US has not forced any type of government on them, nor do we have plans to do so. The invasion of Iraq would not have continued unless Saddam stepped down...the invasion would not have happened if he had obeyed the 12 (at least) UN resolutions invoked against him, and the demands of most strong states to disarm himself of WMD. He refused to do so, under threat of attack, and the US was good to their word. Not the most idyllic situation, but reality nonetheless.
