is it possible to feel mostly back labor and not really have painful contractions until the second stage of labor?

It is possible. I actually had total back labor with my 2nd child. Was in denial the whole time that he was coming because I was not feeling the abdominal contractions that I did with the first one. I had the back labor throughout the whole delivery. Luckily he was in a real hurry to get here. Labor lasted about 1 hour.

Yes, I didn't feel painful contractions until around 5 minutes before I had my sons. I've had back labor with both of them.

YES.

With my son it was all lower back area. I was laying in bed and got a lower back ache. Then it got worse and I felt like I had to have a bowel movement.

This went on for many hours.

back labour is terribly painful, I wouldn't wish it on too many people.
