flies come from maggots.

Maggot is a general term for the larval form of an insect. They appear 2-5
days after an adult insect lays its eggs. In the case of a deceased animal,
flies are usually the source of maggots. The flies lay their eggs after
being drawn to the smell of rotting flesh. The eggs hatch into maggots and
they get their nutrients from eating the body. This also aids in
decomposition. Actually there is a field of forensics called forensic
entymology or solving crimes by observing the insects/larva on a body. Each
insect has a specific life cycle and the time it takes for the larva to hatch
can be diagnostic.

In a way when the fly is the maggot, the maggot has helped solve unsolved murders.

flies are very nasty. Just think where the maggot was and now it is flying around your food. yyyyyyyyuuuuuuuuuuuccccccckkkkkkk

Yes most flies are decomposers especially in maggot form(baby fly) then there are 1000's of flies that pollenate plants, flies are also a food source for many animals, then we have the ones that annoy few and far in between when you count how many species of flies inhabit the world. The are an important part of the ecosystem which may collapse with out them. On the other hand if we humans dissapeared the world would flourish.

Actually they do. I know this os going to sound really gross, but here goes. Flies can help the Froensic Pathologist and Correner when examining a dead body. They often take flies and test them to see how old they are. Flies creat Larvy when procteating, the larvy turns into maggots. The maggots will eat on a body as do the flies. Believe it or not, flies and maggots have often solved cold case murders.

Flies feed anything willing to eat them and fast enough to catch them, from bugs to birds to mammals and so on. Even my cat regularly catches and eats flies. Maggots also feed a lot of creatures, and they're great for getting dead flesh out of a wound!

They do have their beneficial side. They help control other insect pests. They act as scavengers and recylers when they feed on decaying waste such as dung and dead animals. Of course, they serve as food themselves for other insects and many birds. Flies are also great pollinators. Only bees and some wasps pollinate more plants and flowers than flies.

They help to feed other insects like spiders. Also they lay eggs that turn into maggots that help rid the environment of diseased dead animals and their waste.
But Personaly I wouldn't mind life without them. I hate when they get into the house and fly all around in the kitchen trying to land on my food..Then I have to get the flyswatter.... Gross!

Of course, they lay eggs that turn to maggots that eat dead flesh that would otherwise poison the land with bacteria.

The soldiers in the Civil war found that maggots in the wounds ate the dead flesh and caused the wound to heal much more quickly.
