...to spell out something for someone, like your name, or street name, only to see them spell it how they want to?
I have an uncommon spelling of my first name, and a German last name. Even though I spell out my first and last names...still. people spell it how they want to...and then they can't understand why it bothers me

My last name is also strangely spelled German and I hate repeating it. i hate all the junk mail I get to all the different spellings of it. I must get 6 different spellings to the last name. There are so many consonants and silent letters. I feel your pain!

The stupid thing is I had a really, really common maiden name (it's the tenth most common name in my country) and I STILL had people mis-spell it!
I have an extremely common first name, one of the most common names for girls for about 1000 years, and people STILL can't spell it!
Now I have a rare surname with multiple possible spellings, and at least people have an excuse to spell it wrongly. Weird thing is, they usually spell it correctly! Go figure!

I know!that drives me crazy!i spell my name that starts with an E but still people write my name starting with an A

It bothers me too. My first name is Carrie and even when I spell it out, they usually spell it Carry, like the verb. My last name couldn't be any more simple, and they still screw it up.

My last name is not common and people butcher it every day even if i spell it, pronounce it, whatever - Until they can associate it with something ( i.e. a university or entertainer) they have no clue what I'm saying. Yeah it makes me crazy !!

It used to bother me, but not anymore. People used to mis-pronounce my name all the time, saying it with an "i" (as in ice), rather than with an "e" or even an "a".
But now I don't really care.

yea!! that is so annoying this coach in my school shes always says my last name wrong and im always telling her how to pronounce it but she doesnt understand.... it drives me crazy
