3g/4 = 12
3g/4 = 12/1 (Make the 12 in fraction form)
3g/4 = 1/12 (Inverse the 12/1 to proceed to multiplication. If
you do not like to inverse then do the cross
multiplication.
3g = 48 (The product you will get).
3g/3 = 48/3 ( Know the value of g so divide them by 3.)
g = 16 ( The value of g.)

3g/4=12
4(3g/4)=12 x 4 First multiply the denominator
to both sides to get rid of the
denominator. On the left side it
cancels out because you are
dividing and multiplying by 4. Then
you multiply 12 x 4 because
whatever you do on the left, you do
on the right. So you get 48
So youre equation would now look like this:
3g=48 Divide by 3 on both sides so
you can get the variable by
itself
3g/3= 48/3
3g/3=g and 48/3 = 16 so g=16

think of the = as being the fulcrum of a balance and the Left Hand Side (LHS) and the RHS (right hand side) of the equation as being the pans of the balance.
Currently we are saying that both sides are equal. Now if we want to make this simpler so we can figure out what g might be, we need to do things to this balance so that both sides are equal and the balance (equality ) is preserved.
To do this we must do the same operation to the LHS as we do the the RHS.
The LHS has that nasty /4, so let's multiply the LHS by 4 to get rid of that and consequently we need to do the same to the RHS. We can shorten this to:
"Multiply by 4"
this gives:
3g/4 *4 = 12 * 4
and the LHS is really just 3g, so:
3g = 48
Now we have that 3 on the LHS that we want getting rid of.
"divide by 3"
3g/3 = 48/3
so we get
g = 16 // possible answer.
putting g=16 into the original:
3(16)/4 = 12
3*4=12
12=12
done. //shows that the answer is correct.
You can put // after each line to show what you are doing so the who process does not need to take up pages and pages:
3g/4=12 // multiply by 4
3g = 48 // divide by 3
g = 16

if you are solving for 'g' you want to isolate the variable.
remember you have to do the same thing to each side of the eqn to make sure it stays =
1. multiply each side by 4
4(3g/4)=4(12)
the 4's cancel on the left side, leaving
3g=48
2. divided each side by 3
3g/3=48/3
the 3's cancel on the left, leaving
g=48/3=16

The answer is g=16
1] multiply both sides by 4 to cancel it out on the left side
2] u now have 3g=48
3] now divide both sides by 3 to cancel it out on the left side so g is by itself, remember what u do to one side u must do to the other.
4] g=16
Think of algebra as solving a puzzle in this case u have to solve for g which means you have to get g by it self.
