was in a main family room. My teenager thinks ( and I agree) that it will be too noisy to get any work done. We will have 3 more teenagers soon ( kids growing up ) and while we do have the computers, safty is a concern.
Thoughts? suggestions??

It depends. Has your teenager given you any reason not to trust him/her? If so, I'd think moving it to the family room would be the smartest option. If not, give them a chance and let them keep it in their room. Either way, the BEST option is to have it in the family room. This way, your teen is less vulnerable to online predators. Another thing to keep in mind is their age and maturity. Are they in their younger teens or immature? Or, are they in their older teens or mature enough to not be a online victim? Hopefully after reading this you'll make the wisest and safest opinion.

You need to take into consideration, her also that if the computer is in her room the whole family is going to be coming in and out of there all the time. Maybe a spare bedroom would work, so when someone needs to do work they can be left in peace. Or you could always get a second computer, Technology is always advancing any way

U must respect their privacy but the best thing you can do is allow her to keep the computer in her room and put a parental blaokc on her internet to prevent bad sites or pop-ups!....If using btinternet there is a system where u can set the internet for ages. Certain ages are restricted to certain sites....a teenager would b restricted to safe sites and educational sites! Also trust is a bog thing talk to them and make obvious the consequences of their actions if they do do anything!

Well if this isn't the only computer in the whole house then I see no problem with her keeping it in her room. I know I didn't like to do homework out in the living room. I preferred to do it in my room. If this is the only computer in the house maybe you can buy another one. Dell usually has some great deals!

Can and do you trust your daughter, if so then let her keep it in her room. For safety you can get a program that will monitor all that she does while she is on the computer, and you can also tell her about the dangers that being on line bring.Good luck
