5 pounds 7 ounces still isn't very big. It's certainly healthy, don't get me wrong, but I would bet you still have a good 4-5 weeks. If this is your first baby, it might even be a little later. The baby will come when he or she is ready.

Congratulations! And happy pushing. :-)

No, not at all. You still have 5 weeks to go. You may go early, but not right now. You know, no one can really predict when a baby will come into the world, but more then likely, hang on for at least another 4--5 weeks. Good luck with your baby girl. I just had a granddaughter born 7 weeks ago, and there's nothing like it.

measuring by the ruler isn't very reliable, if it was an ultrasound then maybe but chances are with your first pregnancy you'll be on time , unless induced for other reasons. With my last pregnancy i was told my due dat by measuement was 12-24 but by ultrasound it was 12-16 and sure enough the ultrasound was right 12-16 on the dot

I measured 42 weeks at 36 weeks and I did have the baby early. She was fine, fully cooked, etc. and yes my dates were right cuz she was still covered with vernix.

no measurements are approximate indicators of gestational age late in pregnancy

weight determined by ultrasound is a guess based on measurements and can be off 20% in either direction (my sister is an ultrasound tech "weight determined by ultrasound is useless" her words)

your baby will be born at the time its lungs are fully developed and begin producing chemicals that start your labor

No it doesn't mean she'll come early, it just means they could have gotten your due date wrong by a few days, or she could just be a very healthy baby. That sort of thing happens all the time.

Not necessarily. Ultrasounds can be "off" by a week either way, so don't go by that alone. It never hurts to be ready for your baby's birth though, cause those little guys arrive on "their" time not "ours", lol. My last was 14 days over his EDD....and AVOID induction, it has nasty repricutions and can make baby go into distress causing you a c-sec. :(
Happy Birthing Vibes to you :)

don't trip mama. You'll have your baby when it's ready it's sounds healthy to me but it can stay in their longer and get healthier. My daughter was 7lbs 5 ounces I had her 40 weeks of pregnancy.

Either way sounds like a healthy baby.

Treasure this moment cause when their out you'll wish you were pregnant again.

good luck :)

No not necessarily but you could as long as she waits until you are 37 weeks she will be considered term but even if you have her now she will be fine they are only under weight when they are less than 5 pounds.

ultrasounds are just estimations. the weight that you were given is an estimate in addition to the measurement. i was told that both of my twins were around the same weight at an ultrasound. when they were born, there was a difference of two pounds between them
