heres a way to make it faster easeyer.
get a motor and trans from a honda oddessey. i know this works ive seen it done. theres a guy around here with a 92 hatch with the van V-tech in it with underdrive pulleys, CAI, Exhuast, and a port job. the thing hualss asssss!

it would be super $$$$$$$$. The civic is front wheel drive the s 2000 is rear whell drive nough said.

hell i would make the civic real wheel drive and go for it, its called hot roddin' and GO FOR IT but dont think you can mount the motor sideways

No, you can not for the exact reason you stated. Well, that's not entirely true. You can, but it would cost way too much money to be practical.
