I don't think it's just a black/white thing. I've seen white people do that "walk slow" or "run across the street" thing too while cars are coming, and when I'm driving it really makes me mad because I have to slow down (even though I have the right of way), and if I hit them, then I'm liable (again, even though they disobeyed the law by crossing the street when they weren't supposed to).
It all depends I suppose. But yeah, it seems that blacks seem to do it more often, but I'm not sure why.

They want Whitie to wait.
But one day they are going to do this to the wrong person. Someone who really doesn't give a sh!t about their personal aire of "you have to wait" thing, or their chip on their shoulder. It's just plain inconsiderate!
I saw a white man hit the gas and sped up while a black teenager was "mozzying at a snails pace" across the parking lot of a Wal-Mart once. He really moved his a**, & jumped up on the curb to avoid getting hit, with a look of shock.
I just laughed. He shouldn't have been walking in such a way, making several others, in both directions wait for him to cross!
Many white people are beginning to experience prejudice.
Example: I went to a bank that had all black tellers, as I stood in line I was skipped over 4 times before I was waited on. Not one of them want to wait on me, until their white manager got onto them, did they wait on me. And this was not the 1st time that this has happened to me & others that I know.
Being from the Altanta, GA area, this is becoming more common where there are Africian-Americans who feel that we owe them something, for whatever reason, they treat white people in this way.
I even have several black friends who share this same opinion, that some whites are treated badly by black people.
This has been my personal experience, and may not reflect the experiences of others.

I've always wondered that myself. I find it very irritating when someone walks very slowly across the street when your waiting for them to cross. It seems to be a "I'M IN CONTROL" thing. One time I was in a big hurry and very bitchy and this guys pulls that on me and actually stopped right in front of my car, bent down, and tied his shoe instead of walking to the sidewalk and then doing it. I wanted to honk my horn just to irritate him or maybe scare him. The attitude makes me nuts.

I've seen both walk like they've got rubber bumpers on their hips, but a lot of the time, people are looking for a reason to express their anger and it makes them feel respected and feared when you "submit" to them by not running them over. Frustrating!

different cultures treat things differently. White people are taught to wait patiently for what will come to them, while blacks tend to seize any opportunity they come across. I am mexican, and I always cross as soon as I can, since I dont want to have to wait forever for cars to actually stop and let me cross.

properly, i in my opinion imagine that women might want to now and again ask boys out, purely reason i'm a guy and dont have the middle to ask them out myself. yet i imagine why a tremendous variety of the adult men are fearful about asking is about what unusual rumours will be round once he asks. now and again it helps if the female asks, that is going to offer the boy a touch vanity.

I don't think it's a black or white thing, it's a matter of respect. I notice it's usually women who walk slow and are inconsiderate.

It just could be that THESE PEOPLE are just plain fed up with being pushed around, or at least they perceive that they are being pushed around. I was trapped recently by a LADY with a shopping cart...it was pretty obvious that she meant to do it.
Just TRY AND UNDERSTAND the HURT from GENERATIONS of getting PUT DOWN.

I'm not racist either but I was told (no Joke) that it was due to there heritage and the fact that they are not used to vehicles. Apparently its some subconcious thing. I just believe that they honastly dont think about it.
