i downloaded a movie from limewire..it plays on my computer using divX player..i copied it to a dvd-rw and the disc will play also on my computer...i just bought a new dvd player and it wont play on that system..it states that it plays dvd-r and dvd-rw...what do i need to do??

Well, the movie is in the wrong format. You said it yourself, it is DivX but just to let you know, standard DVD movies are not in DivX. In fact that is why DivX was developed because it compresses the movie so it becomes smaller and it becomes easier for people to share it. So what you need to do is decompress the movie, meaning convert it from DivX to DVD format. You may be able to do it one step or two. Personally I have never done that because it just takes wayyyyyyyyyyyy too long. It requires a lot of processing power and time.

Just go to google and search for it. There are some software which will let you do that.

Yes the best solution for you would be to get a DVD player that plays DivX movies. I would recomend Cyberhome and Apex. They are usually cheap but they usually play anything that you can toss at them. Good Luck

probably ur copied dvd-rw is also divx format.thus , u need a player that capable of divx.
