I assume you mean the Greek tragedy by Sophocles, the third play in his Oedipan tragedy. On the surface, of course, the conflict is between Antigone, the daughter of Oedipus, and her uncle Creon, now serving as King of Thebes. The point of conflict has to do with her showing respect for her dead brother by giving him a proper funeral. Creon has issued an edict prohibiting such a ceremony because, in his view, the brother was an enemy of the state and deserves punishment even in his death. On a psychological level, the conflict is between the personal loyalty of Antigone to her family and the vengeful arrogance of Creon. On a higher thematic level, Antigone represents the integrity of the individual human soul and pride in family standing firm against Creon , the impersonal, authoritarian representative of the State. On another level one can see the conflict as the strong deteremination of Antigone, dedicated to persevere in what she sees as an ethical, moral, civic commitment even when she is tempted to compromise in some way by the devotion of her sister Ismene, her love for Haemon, and the power of Creon.

You're reading the play, right?

Well, from what I remember, Antigone wanted to bury her brother (who fought AGAINST the state) at home. Her uncle, Creon, would not let this happen since he considered her brother a traitor. Antigone went against the law and buried her brother at home and had to face the consequences.

It's been a while since I read the play. Was I right?

So, the conflict is "Individual v. state"

From what I gather, Antigone is about doing the right thing even when people don't want you to do the right thing. And Antigone should know, since her father, Oedipus, well, you know his story, and the family's trying to make amends to what he did in Antigone. In the story, Antigone's brother has died and her uncle won't let him get a proper burial and if he doesn't, it would upset the gods and leave the brother's spirit in disarrest. Antigone's trying to do the right thing, even when her sister is all for hanging back and letting people control them.

Antigone wants her father buried but King Creon doesn't because he thinks he's a traitor and doesn't deserve it.
