Israel soldiers were kidnapped by Hezbollah. So, Israel decides to teach them a lesson and attacks them.

What I don't understand is while they are doing that no one seems to care that like a thousand Lebonese civilians have been killed. They didn't do anything to anybody.

And when somebody brings this up then people act like Israel is a victim even though Lebanon has one of the smallest militaries in the world.

I am serious and not trying to argue. I seriously do not understand why this is ok with us?

Didn't we call the people who bombed the world trade center terrorists for killing civilians?

THANK YOU,, THANK YOU,, someone should've asked this a long time ago.... the thing is israel is bombing everything, people, bridges, building, factories,, this is against the rules of war.. Israel goes into evacuated cities and bomb empty building,, just to cause more damage... and their reason is : Hezbollah choses to hide behind these civlians. THAT IS WRONG,, PEOPLE, WAKE UP, the leader of hezbollah is not even in lebanon anymore... but of course when israel wants to attack innocent civilians, all they can do is say they think hezbollah are hiding here, how does that give them the right to attack??

Hezbolla is only killing the israeli soldiers and are only bombing/ destroying their tanks and military equipment, while israel are killing women and children and older men who are not even fightin?? how do you justify this,,

AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FOR ANYONE READING THIS,, PLEASE WATCH THIS,, YOU REALLY NEED TO WATCH THIS...

thanks again for openning the subject.. you're totally right in what you said.

Hezbolla is in no way a terrorist group... no way .. and i won't generalize and say all, but most lebanese , whether they're muslims or not, THEY DO SUPPORT hezbolla . and I am, proudly, one of them.

Israel did not decide to "teach them a lesson". First of all the UN passed a mandate calling for disarming the Hezbollah. Lebanon did not follow through on this mandate mostly because they did not (still do not) have the capability or means to do so. Secretly, it is in their best interests that the Hezbollah is either extinguished or at least severly weakened so that they have a fighting chance of disarming them so that the Labenese people which include Christians can get back to being a peaceful country.

You also have to understand that the religious mix of the Hezbollah is the same as the majorities in Syria and Iran which explains their interest and determination in continuing to arm Hezbollah to further their own interests (complete destruction of Israel).

First of all, for the Labenese who have been killed, one has to understand that the Hezbollah learned from the Iraqians and do not openly wear military uniforms. They dress as civilians and carry out their dangerous operations from civilian locations such as businesses and apartment buildings and compounds etc.
Is it not their duty as protectors of their own people to NOT DO THIS as it continues to harm their innocent people. Secondly, when an Hezbollah insurgent is killed, he is dressed in civilian clothing and thus is presented an an innocent civilian killed. The Israel military does not do this.

If you as a homeowner, hide / shield an insurgent knowingly, you take the risk and the resulting consequences. You also put your whole family at risk.

A comparision to the world trade bombing is a pale comparision to the realities of the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. Remember, this is not a conflict between Israel and Lebanon. It is a conflict between Hezbollah and Israel.

If somebody kidnapped 2 of your family members and your only recourse to possibly save their lives was to take matters into your own hands and try to free them, would you not try.

All Hezbollah has to do to stop this (innocent civilians on both sides dying) is to return the 2 kidnapped Israel soldiers who were kidnapped by the Hezbollah on Israel soil. The conslict will stop but unfortunately, the Hezbollah will live to fight another day at the bekoning of Iran & Syria.

Did you not notice that the world's attention (ever since this conflict started) shifted from the Iranian Nuclear crisis to Hezbollah/Israel distraction.

At the end of the day, what is Hezbollah but a terrorist organization. If not for Syrian and Iranian backing and approval, this conflict would not have existed.

The answer is simple. America is supporting Israel by staying out of it. The reason? Historically, the American government has supported Israel because the Jewish are God's "Chosen People" and Israel is the "Holy Land". In the event of a second coming, America wants to be on Jesus's good side.

I think it's bunk. Lebanon has been picking on Israel for years, so Israel probably feels justified in attacking. It isn't just about the two hostages...that is just the straw that broke the camels back. As with any war or conflict, innocent civilians are killed. It's unfortunate, but it's reality.

You are not alone, there are millions of us that feel the same way, do not be discouraged, just having the capability of producing the thought that provoked the question, shows that you are far above many.
Problem is the Media, if Lebonese civilians die, they are "Casualties of War", If Israel civilians die, they are "Victims of Terrorists". It is truly all one in the same with wordplay being used by the media and those in power. Actually Israel has already crossed the border previously and kidnapped hundreds of people, both in Hezbollah and Gaza or Palestinian territories.
I personally believe that if Hezballah is trying to kill civilians and they have killed maybe 70 or 80, and Israel is "claiming" to not be trying to kill civilians and they kill hundreds, which is worse on the civilians, the one trying to kill them or the ones who are not? And before you can believe that Iran and Syria had Hezballah do their dirty work for them, you can best believe that the United States and Britain had Israel do their dirty work for them. That being said, it is not right and there are millions who agree with you, we just don't hear it all of the time, because of what they want the media to portray! I love America, but not the way it's run!

It is all about intent. Israel is not intending to kill innocent civilians (some would debate this). I would say that they need to be more careful, but it is difficult when Hezbollah is purposely using civilians as human shields. Right now, Israel is not the victim anymore. Israel is making an aggressive move to remove Hezbollah from firing range (the southern part of the country). It is rare for a democratic country to attack unprovoked, and that is why the international community supports Lebanon, but does not support Hezbollah.

You are singling out one situation and overlooking others...what about the mess in Sri Lanka, or in Myanmar, or Nigeria or how about Colombia, or the Philippines. What about the Hmongs in Laos? There are too many problems for which the best solution is to let the people solve their own situation. If we intervene, we could stop the problem...for now...but it is not over...it will resurrect itself until the people of the region work it out. I know it sounds cruel but it is the only way. Neither the UN nor the US should have to be a policeman to the world. Lebanon has been nibble at Israel for many years...they are not as pure as you paint...and bullets and bombs are not selective of the victims, but there was't much outrage over the attacks that have been taking place in Israel for the 50 years since the country was established. And most have forgotten the American Embassy bombing there...perhaps it is because we have faster and more graphic news stories today.

Oh honey, it's not just Lebanese civilians being killed. Israeli civilians are dying as well. I'm extremely upset with the media right now as they seem to only be covering one side of this. Hezbollah had been attacking Israel prior to the capture of Israel's soldiers. Israel was forced to retaliate to protect it's citizens. Lebanon's civilians were warned. As for the WTC, my god, how can you even begin to compare that with what's going on in Israel right now? Israel's actions were defensive. What happened with the WTC was a flat out offensive attack on our country! What's not OK with us is Hezbollah attacking Israel. Please try to check out other news sources other than CNN and the like, they, for whatever reason, have become unjustly biased in this matter.

Unfortunately Lebanon has always been the pawn in the Middle East power struggle. Israel and Syria have used Lebanon at will and no one seems to want to intervene. It's all about who's on what team and Lebanon is always left off. The US backs Israel and tells them whatever you want to do is fine and makes Hezbollah the bad guy...when in essence it's really Israel. This is all about Palestine and how the Israelis forced the Palestinians out of Gaza. This will never end unless a UN led neutral force (no US involvement) intervenes.

I'm not sure. Maybe because Lebanon asked the UN for help and the UN is an old and ailing organization that also needs help. I think the situation needs a new American President, Opec representatives from all the members, prominent American Jews, a new Israeli PM, Siniora, and Nasrallah getting together. They don't need to meet in the same geographic location they could meet online. I just think that they need to talk it all out. And the French president can monitor if he's free or they can get Dr. Weil or some other therapist to help them with their communication, "cause I think that though they seriously need to communicate they've all got to much luggage to hear each other out"...I think the UN can also use some marriage and divorce therapists. Now there's an idea that makes me want to go back to school. I unfortunately haven't studdied psychology. :( (By the way I have no problem with being called crazy by strangers, if you disagree with me)

Israel is not fighting with Lebanon, Israel is fighting with Hezbollah.

Hezbollah has killed hundreds of American citizens. Israel has not killed American citizens.

Hezbollah hates America. Israel likes America.

What is a "civilian"? It's not unexpected that Hezbollah has wives and children.

Why does Hezbollah have 15,000 rockets? Why have they shot them at Israeli civilians.

When Hezbollah kidnapped the two soldiers Israel said "Give them back or we will bomb you."

Hezbollah said, "We are not giving them back. We are not afraid of your bombs. We have thousands of rockets to shoot at you."

May the responsibility of death lie on the heads of the leaders of Hezbollah, because they had the power to avoid the war by returning the kidnapped soldiers.

It is not only the Israelis killing civilians, it is also Hezbollah. In fact, most Lebanese deaths are due to the fact that Hezbollah choses to hide behind these civlians.

As to Israel teaching Hezbollah a lesson, how many soldiers should be kidnapped before Israel reacts? Four? Ten? One hundred?
