Be very careful when cleaning old coins. My dad just learned the hard way! My nephew decided to help grandpa clean up a bunch of old coins by putting them in Cola. OOPS, they are no longer readable. The "gold and coin" shop where he lives told him to just clean them in water with a soft toothbrush.

This is a site that I found when looking for help for my dad...has some good ideas.http://www.ehow.com/how_13525_clean-coins.html

I used Coca Cola before on pennies and they came out shinning bright.

Weird huh? People drink that stuff. Look what coke can do if it can take years and years of old rust and dust off Coins then what could it do to your insides?

Makes me think.
Well I don't drink coke anymore.

I don't know if this is safe for all coins, but if you rub old pennies with vinegar and salt, they shine right up!
