The cynics in the audience will say that office spirit is the willingness to eat the corn out of your bosses' excrement.

Very similar to school spirit or school pride, except it happens at the office. I actually did my thesis on school spirit, and I can tell you that one key aspect discovered as a result of my research is to have healthy involvement. That means having activities that employees can enjoy together as a group. For example, some bosses think it's a great way to build camaraderie by having an evening office part... but for the astute business owners, they know it's best to have one the last two hours of a regular work day (it's like a double bonus: you get paid (it's not your time) and you get a party!)

Office spirit means having pride in what you do for a living. When someone asks you, "Where do you work?" you answer with a smile and excitement. It's about being a team and really feeling like what you do is important in the grand scheme of things. Many bosses try to create or increase "spirit" by having small incentives. (ie company picnics, games, days off, crazy hat days, etc) Hope this helps
