okay im sixteen and the guy is 18 , my father is against the thing with him being black, but my mom does not agree. my dad doesn't know im dating him but my mom does. my mom likes him and he is soo good to me. we are in love . how do i make my dad come around ?

long story: 4 months ago bf asked me out * he is black, i am white* i told my mom because i knew she would not care if he was black or white. she likes him alot, he treats me right and i love him. so we tried talking to my dad saying i liked this guy.. and he was cool with it until i mentioned he was black. he says he doesn't want me to deal with the issues of mixed children, and being ostrasized by others. by the way im 16 and the guy is 18 ... my dad has no problem with the age gap

You'll just have to try and reason with your dad (well, maybe let your mom do that). There is no reason why someone in this day and age should have a problem with interracial relationships.
On a side note, if you are thinking of marriage, wait a few years. Not because of your bf being of a different race but because high school relationships rarely work out in the long run.

I had the same problem with my dad.
my dad is weird he's not racist but he would get mad if he found out that I was dating a black guy in high school.
My mom knew it but didn't care. She was very nice to him.
But my dad says people should not date outside their race.
He gave me some crap about the children of mixed couples have a hard time being accepted.
But to me love is love.
And if you do marry outside your race that child/children will find love if you treat them right.
But I never told my dad about my BF.
So I guess I'm not much help.

I'm not gonna say that you're dad is a racist, he just doesn't want you to have to deal with all the bigots out there that will treat you badly just because you're dating someone that's black. But, if you're really in love in time he'll come around.

Your dad is probably more mad that you're dating an older guy...
He's just being an overprotective dad....he loves you and is looking out for you and what's best for you....
To him, you are still his "little girl" and probably doesn't want to let you go!

16 is too young to be talking about children and social issues of biracial marriage! Just tell him you are dating him now and having fun, and you'll worry about settling down after college.

It's going to take time. Just try bringing him over for dinner or something. and see how your father reacts. once you father sees that he treats you good there shouldn't be any problems.
