It depends on if you are having contractions or not. My 1st wife had to take antacids for her stomach cramps, but I'm the one who woke up with the morning sickness. Strange, huh?

How far apart are the cramps/contractions? That would determine if labor is near. Also, has your water broken? That usually happens before you take off to the hospital.

It could be that...if you are pregnant. There is also a thing called Braxton-Hicks (not sure of spelling) which is known as false labor. That is your body preparing for labor. If you are NOT pregnant, grab a magazine and a roll of toilet paper and head for the john ASAP.

Might be. I didn't even know that I was going into labor. My water broke, and I waited all night till the next morning till my husband took me to the hospital. I had my daughter the same day.

first- how far along are you..cramping in early pregnancy is normal according to my ob/gyn.your uterus is going through a lot.now if you are pretty far along then just give your doc a heads up.they will let you know what you need to do. if there is discharge, kinda jelly like..it could be clear or brown or reddish (but not BLOODY) in color then that would be your mucus plug and you definelty need to call you doc!its on its way then...if you are at term and would like to speed things along, ask your doc to "swirl your membranes".i went into labor the very next day!

true labor comes when your cramps have steadliy increased in closeness and intensity...keep track of them, the time thy start and end, and how far apart they are

if they are just random cramps here and there, with no increase in intensity, they are labled False labor.
