Part of a ban on Cuban products. This is a relic from the Kennedy administration which is why it will never be repealed. Republicans and Democrats alike would never touch this issue.

Although, don't you think since Cuba is a communist country that we should also ban Chinese products too? How about when Russia was communist? No way.

Believe me, I hate communism and everything it stands for. But if we are going to trade with other communist nations, then the embargo on Cuba should be lifted.

Well, other people have answered your question. But Cuban cigars are available here in Canada and tourists from here go there as a main destination. To find out more about the new Cuba search David Suzuki (famous geneticist and environmentalist here) and his TV show The Nature of Things. He did a two-part special on what is happening in Cuba now.

Castro is old now and his successor is not in place. Things will change there. Right now they are doing some amazing things out of necessity. Dr.'s and nurses doing free home visits regularly. Not a hospital based system. Organic Farming. Very little money, few factories, little pollution.

The USA has had an economic Blockade on all products from Cuba since shortly after Fidel Castro and Che Guevara successfully ousted the American puppet administration if Batista in 1959.
Not only do thesuccesive American governments want to economically strangle Cuba, but amendments to US law over the past 10 years or so also dictate that any country which trades with Cuba will also be boycotted by the USA

After the Cuban Missle Crisis the US but an embargo on Cuba. It is illegal for Americans to travel there and import or export goods to Cuba. That's why all their cars look really old. Rumor has it the JFK sent out his staff to buy as many Cuban cigars as possible before the embargo.
