It's hard to say. Different treatments are better for different skin types. Just make sure your cream/wash doesn't have too much benzoyl peroxide. 2.5% is a good number.
If your skin is really bad try getting a perscription from your doctor.

I had a lot of pimples and now I don't have any, I recommend that you use Indoxyl...it is really cool and it works!!! I love it!! I'm not kidding! I apply it on my face every night after sleeping...I swear for god that in 2 weeks you won't have pimples. Just apply it only in the pimple and if you are going to get chlorine in your face, let's say you enter a pool, remove the Indoxyl with some water before entering. The only thing that I've just discovered is that it is composed by intestinal bacterial degradation of indoleacetic acid but don't worry I swear it works, not kidding!!! Here's the product webpage:

don't use Clerasil (sp?) that mess actually fried my skin when I used it. Burt's Bees has some really good products that are natural. If you can't find them, I highly recommend Neutrogena "On-The-Spot" acne treatment. This stuff is fast-acting and doesn't burn the skin.

Try Proactiv (wash, toner and creme - you need all of them). It's not just creme, it will help to clean your pores so that pimples don't appear.

I stopped using stuff w/ benzoil peroxide b/c it dried out my skin so much that I got even more zits! I use stridex pads. The med they use is called salicylic acid. It doesn't dry my skin out so bad and still manages to reduce my breakouts.
