I have just spent a couple of hours on this site and am now about to go to bed (it's midnight in England)
But first I need to know - Is there anybody in this site at the moment who can spell?
I don't think I've come across anyone yet this evening who can.

Before you get to sleep, be "rest" assured that there are those here and beyond- that can and do know how to spell. I make a habit of using the Check Spelling feature- even when I'm sure of my spelling.
Just in case these questions & Answers get subpeonaed for court or some other more porposeful event. I want it to be known to the world- that I am not a complete idiot.
Here in the USA, as well as the rest of the modern world, people use acronyms, abbreviations and/or just too lazy and careless to portry a proper thought so that all can easily understand. Nite-Nite

It's not that they cannot spell but just in a hurry typing and make a mistake, and besides there are a lot of people who can not spell everything correct. If you were as smart as you think you are you would know that. DA

Your query was inane at best. The fact that people can’t spell is not as startling as the fact that they are to lethargic to let their computer do a spell check for them.

Hopefully, I can. I grade standardized tests for different states. I grade the grammar and spelling sections, and it drives me nuts to see the bad spellers on here!

I think some people can't spell. I think some people can't type. I think the rest are just too lazy or don't care enough to try.

I can! I swear I can. Of course, I spell like an American, but it's a fair approximation of English. We're not all teens and pre-teens in love with Net-speak and text messaging shorthand.
