Most Muslims are not terrorists, but most terrorists are Muslim; moreover, most Muslims are terrorist sympathizers. Have you seen any demonstrations by Muslims in the Middle East or abroad protesting terrorism anywhere?! Do you ever see Middle Eastern women taking part in politics and their governmental decisions and policy making? In short, Israel has been settled (repatriation) by many European Holocaust survivors and progeny of these survivors. Israel has more of a cultural affinity to the USA, Europe, and Argentina than do the Muslim/Arab nations run by Islamic regimes. There are many Jews in Israel, but there are Arabs and Muslims and Christians too (just like in the rest of the West), where they all get to practice freely and without persectution. Diversity is tolerated. Call it a by-product of democratic governance, or whatever you like, but ultimately, these kinds of freedoms and tolerance of others will never be found in most Muslim/Arab nations. Even though there are many antisemites in the USA, they still support a western form a democracy for Jews over a totalitarian, regligious, and sexist regime found in the rest of the Middle East. Israel, like the USA, is held to higher and nobler standards than places like Iran or Afghanistan, where we can expect the most underhanded, unscrupulous, and deceitful practices in domestic and foreign policies. Why would any ethical government support them over Israel? Israel has been a good international leader and ally in promoting progressive civilization, allowing divergent groups to live as they like, in harmony and in liberty. Your concern over money is an odd question, though. The USA is a capitalist nation, and sees Israel as the best investment in that region. Ultimately, it is not all altruism, rather the businessman's shrewd acumen for a future payback in and from that part of the world. Some raised concerns over spending abroad rather than domestically. We no longer live in a 19th Century isolationist America, rather we have been part of a global geo-political economy since the end of WW I. Globalization is here to stay, or at least for a few decades to come.

They don't deserve our support. Imagine all that tax payer money wasted on Israel. We could use that money to improve so many things in this country. I've noticed that more and more Americans are resenting Israel. I think it's time that our government open it's eyes and realize that Israel is a waste of Billions $$.

American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations, the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs, the Washington Institute for Near Eastern Policy, and more recently, Christian Zionist organizations. There's your answer.

Think about this after World War II, America had an influx of European refugees....The most intelligent of the German Jewish scientists(The Manhattan Project) and the worst of the radical young Nazis...We as a country are just following the rules of life, Have you not stopped and realized how much of American Businesses are actually owned and managed by Jewish Businessmen....Actually the numbers would bring fear to your mind if you actually knew.....

I think your question has it backwards....the US has been a strong ally of Israel, but not the reverse. The US support relates to jewish presence in positions of US power, and to some residual sympathy for the WWII Holocaust.

I think it's probably because Israeli interests are making our policies and laws for us. I think for the last 60 years, we have been more and more pushed to supply the desires of foreign interests.

The federal reserve act essentially made foreign countries rich, and America poor. Over 400 trillion in debt. Most of that is to banks that print our money for the cost of face value plus interest.

Israel is governed sensibly. The rest of the mideast is governed by one or another fanatical zealot or group of zealots. Therefore, they are our best source of help and US leaders try to keep it that way.
I'm pretty sure the US pols are dismayed at the recent Israeli madness, however!

Because Congress does not represent the PEOPLE of this country. We need to vote out all incumbents for this and many other reasons.

Israel is our largest ally in the mideast, they are democratically governed, and have a strong military presence.
