Most people who hunt do so because they need the meat and they enjoy the family outing as they usually go as a family unit - camping and hiking as they hunt. Sadly some go just to feel the excitement of the "SCORE" so to speak or the exuberation they get from the kill!
However, because most of the game animals natural predators numbers are so low. Most of the animals hunted would die due to lack of food during the winter months because the herds get too big and their feeding grounds have either been over stressed because of too many animals or people have moved into the areas (homes built)and the animals starve.

This one place down in Texas raises the deer and charges big money to hunt them. They know the deers habits and where they are going to be at a certain time of the day so they can place one of their customers there and they can shoot the deer. This is not hunting.
People that hunt bear bait the bear. They place food at a certain spot for a number of days until the bears start coming in. Then they take the food and put it under loose logs so the bear has to work to get it, giving the hunter more time to get a shot. This is not hunting.
Some people put apples out in the woods so the deer will come for food and then they will shoot them. Another person has a camera by a deer feeder so he can see if there's any bucks worth shooting and after he shoots them he takes the antlers off and the rest is left. These are the people I despise with a vengance.
I hunt for food. I go way out into the woods where I know the deer do not see many humans or aren't fed by them and have the natural fear of man. I do not shoot them if they have no chance to flee. Not while they are just minding their own business. More have got away than I have killed from me warning them I was there. When I do get one I give thanks to the animal and wish him well in the spirit world. I eat every edible part. None goes to waste. I have watched up to 6 bald eagles come to feast where it was gutted. I donate the hide to "Hides for Humanity". Since that deer gave his life to sit on my table for me to eat, I invite his kind to my table. Which is outside of course. I feed up to 30 deer in the winter time. They start coming when it gets close to deer season. There's a huge buck (14-16 point) that comes and sleeps under my trees. It's like a sanctuary to them. They know they're safe here. They sleep in the hay and close in the woods.
I would never kill anything if I wasn't going to eat it. Where I live the deer population is so high it's causing a lot of car accidents. The hunters keep the chance of diseases down such as CWD (chronic wasting disease). If there weren't hunters the disease would be allowed to get out of control and kill off more deer than the hunters do.
I applaud you for caring about the animals, but please also try to see hunting from these aspects. Direct your anger towards the hunters that kill for no reason.

Because they're stupid, backwoods rednecks with the I.Q. of a brick wall.

They think they're so tough sneaking up on a defenseless little deer, just minding her own business walking through the woods and blowing a hole in her. Wow. I'm so impressed.

If they're so damn tough, they should go to the Savannah in Africa and hunt lions with no weapons. See how badass they are then.

Personally, I *despise* hunters and fisherman. I think they're cruel and what they're doing is very wrong. They're just too drunk and stupid to realize it.

Because it's a challenge and requires skill. As long as they eat the animal I don't find anything wrong with hunting.
