Well, when it comes to parents letting you get an animal... That is tricky. I had to wait five years before my mom let me get a ferret. That was back in '96 when I finally got one. One turned into three. LOL

You may be able to strike a deal with her. The supplies will be costly. They need a rather large cage that they can climb in. If you can raise the money yourself and promise to take care of them, she may change her mind eventually. She may be waiting to see if the desire passes. That's what my mom did. When she saw that I still wanted one after five years, she gave in.

Note: I was legally an adult when I was finally allowed to keep an animal with such high maintenance. I was still living in their house, so they made the rules, ya know :)

Sugar gliders are way to much work for a child, they are not a good pet unless you are very very responsable, sugar gliders can easily die from very simple things. I think you probably need to do more research into all that is involved in owning one and then think if you are ready for that.

Depends on your age I suppose? I have a sugar glider....they are really neat pets. You have to really take care of them or they will die. Their food has to be replenished constantly..they eat alot..they drink from water bottles (they drink alot) they are nocturnal (play all night and sleep all day) They like to show off for you..they need TLC and if your willing to do that for as long as they live (12-14 years)! then I would say why not.....With cage and all your looking around $300.00 or so

Ok this might sound a little stupid but have you thought of all the work it will take. But if you are up to it. Start working around the house more. Stuff that you don't usually do. Take more responsibility in what you do. But I'm not saying at you aren't responsible. Just be as mature about it as possible. Good Luck.

Start out with a weird ,but legal pet like a degu or chinchilla. You can learn about on the internet or in books.I checked the internet to see where they are selling them at pet stores or breeders.
Best of Luck

A friend of mine has these little guys and they are a lot of work! You have to get fresh food for them every day and keep their cages really clean. They are nocturnal, so they'll keep you awake at night if they're in your room. Many people have gotten rid of them because of the care they need.

I think you will be disappointed if you get one. They are not only nocturnal but very VERY fragile and susceptible to stress. I agree they are just the cutest little critters but they are a whole lot of work and you can't really hold them like you might want to. If you want something unusual, try a chinchilla maybe.

Tell you what, why don't you get a job, get your own place, save up money, and then get your own useless animal. On second thought, maybe you could give up trying to own a useless animal and get back to your school work.
