Laser. The colors are more vibrant and the resolution is usually higher so prints come out looking much more professional.
I work at a copy shop and whenever we print someone's file off one of our laser printers they always comment on how much better it looks than their inkjet print from home.
And you never have to wait for ink to dry!

Depends entirely on what you need, how much you can pay. Inkjets are better on the cheap because you can get a decent color one from about 150-200$ whereas an laser would start considerably higher for something decent. Price aside then lasers are far superior the colors are far clearer, and the images look truely vibrant. You don't have to replace the ink (toner) as much though it is far more expensive when you do replace it. If the paper gets wet the ink will not run, the ink will not smear etc. The one downside to the laser is usually the size a good color one will usually be pretty large.

I'd say that a inkjet printer is by far the best at this point because non-commercial laser printers don't do color and are not compatible with things like press-on transfers and such. However, for a large business, laser printers are faster and better quality...they won't smear either!!!

It fully depends on the situation, for home printing of some documents and photos and ink jet would be the ideal purchase due to cost, size and versatility however if you are a printing a lot of black and white text then a laser printer would work out more cost effective in the long run but with a higher initial cost

Laser printers are far more expensive to buy and operate. A refill of my four cartridges costs $400. The print will not fade over time and looks more professional. HP has an Officejet that looks as good, but it is not permanent. The laserjet cartridges print almost 4000 pages. If you are in business and can afford it, go with a laserjet.

Inkjet printers themselves are very low-cost and robust for the overall abode consumer. the in straightforward words time identifying to purchase a laser printer is smart is in case you print more effective than one thousand pages in accordance to month. Laser printers use toner that is more cost-effective to fabricate and the toner cartridges carry more effective than a small inkjet cartridge. Inkjet cartridges carry fluid and look at were given to positioned more effective fluid on paper than toner because the paper soaks up a number of it. Toner on the different hand is an particularly skinny layer that sits on properly of the paper. An Inkjet cartridge can print about 500 pages with a 5% insurance (your overall web page with textual content)...a toner cartridge can print everywhere from 2000 to 7000 pages. the different value on some laser printers is you should substitute the drum which could value over $100 after any such large type of pages (we are talking after about 60,000 pages or so). yet some toner cartridges have the drum outfitted in so it truly is replaced anytime you modify the cartridge. For the overall customer, the printer manufacturers keep the inkjet printer expenditures low. they do no longer make a lot money off of them. They make their money off of the consumables (ie, ink cartridges, particular paper, etc.). that's an similar idea why Sony sells the PS3 for decrease than it prices to lead them to. They make their income off of the video games and such. Laser printer expenditures were falling for the previous 5 years. you could get a good colour laser printer in recent times for more effective or less $four hundred...while many years in the past it can value you about $1300.

Laser printers are better for printing on envelopes, the ink doesn't smudge.
I tried printing a multi-page drawing with one though (HP 4000) and the accuracy was not good, much better off with an inkjet.
Depends what you want to use it for.

depends by your needs in terms of:
- budget - LASER is much expensive for color photo prints.
- monthly volume - LASER is much faster
My choice:
for SOHO (small office home office) Class - LASER printer for B&W prints. I print all my photos outside at local photo lab (on-line / internet order with in store pick-up, 8x12" size) = the photo quality and paper is allways very good.
