You can tell by the replies, that there definitely are alot of youngsters on here trying to answer questions that they know nothing about. Or they answer with what they've heard mom and dad talk about late at night when the kids should have been in bed.
The hatred I can't understand. It's quite shocking to see some of the fire that is in the posts on here. Most of the time, there's no basis for it either. I think people need to quit worrying about what party they belong to and start to think about what's best for everyone. The blame game just doesn't work because there's so many factors in the reason this country is what it is.
I'm sure I haven't answered your question, but it was a good question. Also good points as to what happens on this site sometimes.

A response to Lilgiggle33 - You are pretty much wrong regarding your reply. First, being an American gives me the right to challenge the government and a choice to not support the war. The government, since you have not figured this out, is not always right, especially George W. Bush. Supporting the troops is something we are doing, and that is why we don't support him. The troops should be at home with their families and working here, rather than fight W's personal war. As for hating this country? Not even close - hating the country and hating the government are again, two different things.
As for the original question, hopefully when school starts the little teenies will do homework and my space, and leave their poorly informed and hormone based opinions somewhere besides Yahoo! Answers.

Criticizing U.S. policy is far from hating America. True Americans care about the principles this country was founded on (you know insignificant aspects of American values like say the Constitution). More than 2/3 of Americans now say the war was not worth it. Are they unAmerican or America haters? True patriots love their country enough to oppose their leaders when it is necessary to protect the best of what their country stands for. Nationalist idiots who wave flags no matter what atrocities their country commits see this as hate when in actuality they are betraying the values of the country. I'd be all for some sort of ever-changing 10 question test of basic politics/history/geography that would allow high level answers users to chat together w/o having to deal with the voluntarily ignorant. My guess is, however, you would not pass it.

And you're spewing hate as well, with a small mind.
I am a naturalized citizen (born here) and I DO hate the USA.
The IQ level of these forums won't change, because of questions like this, and the resulting answers. The lack of intelligence is a serious problem, don't you think? Consider the source...

My concerned fellow poster...I am with you!
Those of us who do ponder our thoughts greatly, and with the best, clear minded intentions...owe you our gratitude for bringing this very relevant issue to light.
We are all brothers and sisters, here in cyberspace, not bound or defined by borders and constitutions no longer in use (no matter what country you live in), and must not regard each other by where we come from, our political views, race, or religion. Cyberspace, may well be the only place in the world where human beings can truly throw down differences...and be ONE.
It is sad that in this world, people cannot get by these details of themselves and others, to exercise a TRUE freedom, in the international realm of the internet.
Anger is a necessary human emotion...and your anger has been vented, received, processed, and has given birth to an inspiration to others...BTW...my IQ is 140.
With that...my friend...I thank you again.

It is not about hating America. It is about finding the truth in the disturbing situations that are evolving in this world as we speak. If someone starts questioning something that this government does, all the sudden, they become stupid, a moron and un-American. You are slowly losing your right to question, seek answers and think for yourself. You will most certainly see this.
p.s. lilgiggle...what are you talking about? Are you insinuating that one cannot support our troops if they do not agree with the war they are fighting? I am an EX MEMBER OF THE AMERICAN ARMED FORCES and I think this war that is going on now is a complete sham. And I surely hope you are not referring to the governments surveillance plan that was released by the media. You know, the one that was completely warrant-less? Americans need to WAKE UP and see that its not all peaches and cream right now. This government is more foul then it has ever been. This is so NOT about hating America.

Thank you for stating my opinion. I hate that every country in the world can see that 1)our media leeks information that is vital to national security 2)our citizens are ashamed of where they live 3) that we don't even support our troops who are fighting for our freedom 4) that Americans are not greatful for the freedom they have (such as the freedom to voice hate for their government without any repurcussions)
It's not this country that makes me sick. I love America and am truly proud to be an American. I will never leave. But I wish that every person who calls themself an American but then says "I hate America" would be sent to a third world coutry for awhile. Maybe then they could show some gratitude for all that this country does for its citizens.

1. yes
2. I don't know anybody who hates America. The IQ level would probably increase if all the people that try to twist people's beliefs were gone. You know like when someone is talking about wanting to save our civil liberties or about how bad Bush has messed up our country. If those people who actually hate that America has the freedom to allow those people to try to fix their country or speak of their message, if those people were gone then yes.
I think the mistake is confusing wanting to change things with hatred. Under that definition, republicans hate American because they don't like the way minorities have a voice and don't seem to like the way gays can marry in Mass.

I'm 17, and still in school myself. But I like to think of myself as being ever so slightly more intelligent than some people in my age group. Unlike them, I do try to watch as much news as possible from different perspectives. I'll watch CNN/Fox for contrasting American views, the BBC for slightly right-wing government news and various things online such as the New York Times, The Independant and when I can Middle East based news. I also try to read newspapers that are left-wing and right-wing. I'm a politics and media student so it satisfies a lot of my interests to do this.
Actually I think i'm defending myself here when I shouldnt have to. Fair enough a lot of the conversation on here from teenagers is about sex, pregnancies or who to take to the prom, but some of us at this age are trying to put our viewpoints out too. The average IQ of this place will go up when school starts again in September, but that doesnt make it fair for viewpoints from someone my age to just be dismissed because we're categorized as brainless MTV obsessed drones.
As for all the I Hate America people. Yeah they bug me too, and its not even my country they're bashing. I'm an Englishwoman through and through, but I do sympathize with loyal patriots who have to sift through the "George Bush Is The AntiChrist" threads and 'questions'. Those people evidently have no knowledge at all and are just jumping on the bandwagon to pretend to know what they're on about. I dont wish that they would change their viewpoint as they're entitled to that, but I do wish they'd consider what they were saying before posting it up. I admit, the US has its problems and its tendancies to "police the world", and the country isnt rosy in itself, but the sooner people question and debate that effectively, maybe a difference would be made.

1. Yes, and I sympathize with their teachers.
2. I haven't heard one American say they hate America. I have heard a lot of invective and foul language, but not hate. It doesn't do anything to re enforce any ones arguments, pro or con. But removing all dissent from any medium is about as close to a dictatorship you can get. And that isn't going to happen.
As far as IQ goes, it might increase yours if you were not so limited. There was a man like that once, he tried to create the Master Race!
