ABSOLUTELY! All clothes and bedding should be washed - for baby or you prior to wearing. Most clothes, etc. are shipped. Most shippers use pesticides --- can get on items. Wash everything!

I now have 5 children. Granted, I've got tons and tons of laundry as it is.

But - now that I'm expecting twins - I'm still doing the same thing that I've done with all my other baby clothes for the new baby coming. Washed them all before they go on baby.

Why I do - is because I have no idea where that stuff was before it went to the store. Who touched it, where they came from. And all the people that touched it at the store...people cough, people sneeze, it gets dropped on the floor... Well there's still alot of hands touching it before it goes into my shopping bag. I worked retail for many years, I know this for a fact.

Just because it still has the tags on it, doesn't mean it's clean. Just because it wasn't worn by a baby beforehand, doesn't mean that it's clean. It's only clean, if it's washed.

I washed some, and didn't wash some. I didn't see where it made a difference, except for comfort level. Some new clothes are fairly stiff and itchy. If they were bought at a garage sale or second hand store I would definitely wash them. I also stay away from Dreft. A lot of babies that I know of (one of my 3 included) got a rash from it, and my mother is allergic to it. I always washed my kids' clothes in the same detergent I use for mine (maybe with a little fabric softener) and never had a problem.

I washed everything!!! As a matter of fact, I am 39 weeks pregnant and I did all of that today. You never know what could be on the clothes, rags, or anything else the baby might be in contact with. Someone could have touched them with perfume on their hands and if your baby is allergic to it, it could break them out or something else. I just think that it is more safe for your baby if you was everything first. Best wishes and good luck!!

If they are brand new I doubt anyone has tried them on their child in the store and I feel it is OK to wear them right off the rack.
If you are into special soaps and cleaners them you can prewash them. I liked taking them right out the package fresh and putting them on my niece and nephew the little pj's.
Just relax. I had a fit about people holding the baby and kissing the baby. That is where the problem comes in! Congratulations
O get a nice white outfit for the Christening This can be a heirloom for generations and fit boy or girl for your special needs.
Get the family dressed up too for great pictures.

I washed everything before my first baby. For numbers 2 and 3 - only if it was scratchy or felt full of starch or dirt smudges, etc. I also used the same laundry soap as the rest of the family.

Yes, I was all of my son's clothes in Dreft or Baby All before he wears them. My son had eczema as a newborn, and has allergies. I do it just to be safe. It is good to wash baby's clothes before wearing them anyway.

you should wash them just to get the starch out. babies skin is much more sensitive than our own so starches used can irritate it and cause rashes and what not. I recommend using a detergent called Dreft on everything even crib sheets before the baby comes home.

Yes my mom was running around washing EVERYTHING. Use dreft or the target brand alternative (it works just as well and is less expensive).
