I see some have told you Aloe,Vitamin E and others which I have used them all. But the best I have discovered is zinx oxide. Go to WalMart and get their Equate brand:works great. I figure if it is safe for a baby's bottom then it is safe for me. I use it at night on my legs, feet, hands and my face when I think it is starting to dry out. You may not try it but I think if you did you will love it. I know you hate to see that skin peeling on your face but do not pick it off. Good luck and hopefully you will end up with a nice tan to give you a nice glow.

If you ever have a sunburn again, follow these steps. It should help prevent most of the peeling:

First of all, you need to take some Ibuprofin (if you're not allergic to it). It will help reduce the swelling and pain.

Second, take a very cool to cold bath--this will help reduce the damage that the burn did to your skin. It will also help with the swelling, pain, and redness. If you can't take a bath, get some ice and rub it on the burned areas.

Third, drink plenty of clear fluids and make sure you're keeping hydrated.

If you have blisters, do NOT pop them. This will not only hurt, but it can leave bad scars. Blisters mean you have at least second degree burns. Not good!

If you have a lot of blisters, especially if you have a fever or the blisters have pus in them, you need to immediately go to the doctor. You probably have sun poisoning. This is very dangerous and can make you very sick.

If your skin is peeling, do not "help" it along...don't peel your skin. That also can cause very bad scarring (I have a big scar on my nose from peeling it as a kid when I had a sunburn--I'm now 35 and the scar is still there!).

When I get sunburn anywhere on my body I take a soft cloth and soak some white vinegar into it, then lightly wipe it across the affected area. There is a short-term (momentary) sting, and then it just starts feeling better. It's the best thing I know about. What it really does is bring the ph of the burnt skin back to normal. It just takes the heat away, and I think it minimizes peeling. Why not give it a try? It won't hurt you, except for that momentary sting. Though you might smell like a salad...

You could try gently exfoliating to remove the dead, peeling skin. And I do mean gently! Rub your face with a warm washcloth or use a fine scrub with very little pressure.

Next, apply aloe gel then a mild moisturizer. Stay out of the sun until your skin is healed, then use moisturizer and makeup that contain sunblock of at least 15, or higher. And no, SPF 15 moisturizer and SPF 15 makeup do not equal SPF 30. Wear a hat and protect your skin. Skin cancer is not pretty or fashionable!

Try a warm bath to help loosen dead skin and a gentle exfoliater,
and try Fruit of the Earth ALoe Vera Crystal Clear Aloe Gel. It helps take the burn out of sunburn. Its non oily and alcohol free so it wont irritate skin. Its works well if you chill it in the fridge for a few hours.

Use a really good moisturizer and just keep slathering it on! Also, exfoliate your skin nightly so that you can shed the peeling skin. I hate peeling skin too, and I become quite dismayed when my sunburns start taking their toll on my skin!

I use Clearasil's new line of oil control exfoliating pads. One side scrubs away the dead skin and the other side moisturizers. Basically you need to just exfoliate the dead skin (not pick at it which causes it to look blotchy and causes irritation) and immediately moisturize it...since it is dry.
