Yes, there are a variety of Monopoly rules. We play with the roll doubles to get out of jail free, which I believe is documented in the game instructions. The 7 & 11 rule seems to be something added.
We enjoy making up interesting "power" rules. Each person has a unique "power" such as:
- power of direction. Can choose to go forward or backwards on each roll.
- power of interest. All interest payments go to you instead of the bank
- RR tycoon. Land on a RR and advance to any other RR of your choice.

I usually play that you get out of jail when you roll doubles, but I've never heard about 7 or 11. People have all kinds of rules for Monopoly, I guess this is just a rarer one.

According to the official rules of Monopoly, you get out of jail in the following conditions:
(1) throwing doubles on any of your next three turns; if you succeed in doing this you immediately move forward the number of spaces shown by your doubles throw; even though you had thrown doubles, you do not take another turn;
(2) using the “Get Out of Jail Free” card if you have it;
(3) purchasing the “Get Out of Jail Free” card from another player and playing it;
(4) paying a fine of $50 before you roll the dice on either of your next two turns.
If you do not throw doubles by your third turn, you must pay the $50 fine. You then get out of Jail and immediately move forward the number of spaces shown by your throw.

You can get out if you roll a double - I've never heard of it with a 7 or 11.

Doubles.. The 7 11 rule is new to me. You can roll once when it is your turn and try to get doubles, if on the third time you roll you don't get doubles then you can pay 50.00 to get out. Hope this helped...Sounds like someone is trying to mix craps with monopoly over there...lol

Urban Legend. A lot of people in the past have brought up the 7 and 11 rules to me. The double exists. The 7 or 11 is nothing more then the workings of our older brothers or sisters, who in the past picked up the false rules frome somewhere before, and then layed it on us.( Its a fun way to make the game go by a little quicker though!)
