It's southern dialect for "Get her ('er) done" -- an imperative statement expressing a desire to start a job or complete an unfinished task.

Many objects and actions have a feminine persona (like when a farmer refers to his truck as a she, or when a captain of a ship calls his vessel a she). In the same way, a task may be given a feminine context. In the southern American English dialect, something can be "gotten done." Hence, "Git'r done."

I've heard it all my life in North Texas. Mostly from farmers and ranchers. Not much in the cities.

One County Commissioner candidate I interviewed for my local paper used the phrase. I asked him why he was running. He said he turned 60 and he thought if he was ever going to run for public office, "I'd better get 'er done."

It was started by Larry the Cable Guy and it means what it says get it done...meaning do it...finish it...you know, but it's just a hillbilly way of saying it I'm guessing.

It should be 'Get it done' or colloquially, 'Git it done'!

Some times, it is used to say, 'GET HER DONE". Wrong usage.
