go in where it is deep enough to swim but where you can still stand. ly horizontally in the water, keep your head up and your arms and legs underwater (just beneath the surface).
pull in both your arms and your legs, your legs should be pushed tightly together and kinda pulled beaneath your body. arms close to your body, push your hands (open, fingers together, palms downward)to your chest and elbows outward.
next push your arms together om front of you, push them forward (as far as you can, make yourself long) with power and at same time kick your legs together with the same kind of power, this will push you forward. next, move your arms sideways and to the back so that they come alongside your body (hereby pushing back the water) and then pull them in again in the same way you started. while doing these 2 arm movements, you pull in your legs as in the beginning. now push your arms foward again and kick your legs again.
just repeat these movements. don't put down your legs the moment you begin sinking, it's only natural to sink while swimming, but when kicking your legs, you should rise again, don't worry, you'll get it eventually.

The reason you're sinking is because you're panicking.
The human body has so much oxygen, that it naturally floats in water. You don't have a choice. If you jump off a diving board and purposely go all the way down to the pool floor and touch it, then just let yourself relax and loose....you don't even have to swim or dog paddle; you'll automatically float all the way back up to the surface.
The reason people drown is because they think there's some kind of 'trick' to swimming and when they're in the water, they panic and start flailing around and use up a lot of energy and oxygen, causing them to sink. If they'd just relax and let themselves loose, they'd float. And once you're at the top floating, all you need to do is move your arms and legs appropriately to balance and keep straight.
There's no secret or trick to swimming. Just don't panic and accept the fact that *anyone* can swim. It's not a talent; it's an ability that everyone has if they just don't panic.
Don't listen to these idiots here who're telling you you can't swim 'cause you're not buoyant. That's complete crap. If you're human, you're buoyant. Period.

The first thing you need to do is learn how to float. A back float will be harder, but will allow you to keep your face out of the water.
In shallow water, lean back in the water, arch your back, put your arms to the side, and make the rest of your body stiff. If necessary, have a friend put a hand under your back to start. Keep breathing, and keep air in your lungs to keep you more buoyant.
Then, do the same with your face in the water, lying on your front. Stay in shallow water, so if you start to sink, you can just stand up.
Once you have mastered floating - move on to treading water. Essentially, you do three things at once: position your body as if you were sitting in a chair with your feet on the floor (though your feet will be a few inches above the pool floor); move your arms in circles in front of you, like you were painting circles on a piece of paper perpendicular to you at chest level; and move your legs like you were riding a bicycle.
Good luck!

The most important thing to remember when swimming is not to panic. Panic = drowning.
My answer to you is to take swimming lessons. While you'd be with kids, there's nothing to be ashamed of. Swimming is something some people never get to do.
Everyone can swim. How well you swim will determined by the quality of the training you recieve. I took private lessons since I was 3. I have (I've been told by swimming coaches) that I have perfect form. I can swim across most lakes and if I happen to get tired, I just float on my back or tread water till I've recovered enough to go on.
It's important to remember that learning to swim well takes years. Much like learning an instrument. Your body will do things that will be counter prodcutive to your swimming. You have to train yourself not to do these things.

First I suggest to have a qualified person teach you.
If not start with a simple back float arch your back tilt your head back so your mouth stays above water and I think the trick is shallow breathing ,by keeping your lungs filled with air you keep buoyancy. You should be able to float like this with minimal effort. Then kick your legs and paddle with your arms . think of your arms as oars, after this you can try other things.
But you need to be able to float so you can at least save your life or give rescuer a better chance. Good luck

theory:
the position of your head skull affect your butt.
when you look forward/across, your butt goes down, and you sank
when you look down to the swimming pool floor, your butt should goes up therefore you will float
so the key is to learn how to float first, by immersing your face to the water and look down to the swimming pool floor, use google to protect your eyes.
after that learn how to kick from the wall while still looking down to the swimming pool floor and launch yourself
after that you need to pay a swimming coach to start learning a breaststroke, etc.

go in the shallow first where you can stand up and be safe. then start relaxing your body and DONT be afraid of water. if your afraid to get drowned then you wont be able to survive in the deep. just think that, as long as i can stand up, i m safe. you can take swimming classes too. good luck

You can't. There are some people who are excelent swimmers, and there are some who just aren't boyant enough to float. You obviously lack boyancy. There is only one way to treat this, but it's not exactly something the modern human would be willing to do. Sorry. If you're absolutly desprite to swim, contact me.

In order for you to learn you have to throw yourself or have someone throw you in the deep end and with supervision, you have to pull yourself back up and swim to the end where you could stand on the the floor. That's the way I learned when I was a kid and it sure helped. You gotta risk it.
