Yes, a vasectomy CAN be reversed. It's a more complicated procedure than the original; the incision is larger, and there's a longer recovery time with more, ah, "discomfort" while everything heals up.
Simply put, a vasectomy consists of cutting a section out of a tube and sealing the ends -- like cutting out a piece of garden hose and gluing the ends shut. Water isn't going to come out the far end of the hose because it can't get past the cut section.
To reverse this, they basically open up the cut ends of the tube and stitch them back together -- like re-attaching the two cut ends of the garden hose. When everything heals up, water will now come out the far end of the hose and your garden will grow.
There's an episode of a cable-TV show called "The Operation" which shows a vasectomy reversal procedure from start to finish. It's quite graphic and a little gruesome if you're squeamish, but it shows the whole process. You might be able to find some kind of reference to this; I *think* it used to be on Discovery Health, so you might search their Web site to see if it's available to rent or download. Otherwise, have your primary care physician give your husband a reference to a urologist and schedule an appointment to discuss his options.
Best of luck!

my answer to this is yes, it can be reversed, but depending on his age and all,it could be risky. I say this because I myself wanted it done, but they told me I could cause a possible birth defect in the unborn child. So I opted not to have it reversed

Yes, it can work but there are some criteria that must be met. Make an appointment and go to a Urologist......why in the world are you asking this question on Yahoo????

Yes, it is possible depending on the type of vasectomy. Here is a link that can give you some doctors names to talk to about it and they don't charge as much as most. www.blessedarrows.org

You should be speaking to a doctor of that caliber. There have been advertisements that suggest that this type of operation is possible. Wish you luck.
