I'm amazed when people ask what a good comedy to watch, and people dont list the ultimate classics: Airplane, and Airplane II the sequel.

i mean those people who sit at home (sleep overs and such) and want a good comedy to rent.

The Airplane movies were very funny (the original was a bit better than Airplane II) but the humor was a little low-brow.
Other great comedies or that era, like Blazing Saddles or Young Frankenstein were low-brow as well but also had their subtleties and nuances...Airplane put it right in your face - you couldn't miss the joke.

The Airplane movies are classic. There are a lot of great, classic comedies from the late 70s and 80s. But there are a lot of kids on here that were born in 1990 and after, so they have no clue what they're missing.
Vacation is another great comedy - and Spinal Tap.

Airplane II was good but the first is a classic. I think people do not mention Airplane because it is a given.

People who don't list movie such as Airplane! a classic comedy movie are people who don't take movies seriously. They are people who watch movies for the fun of it. On the other hand their are other people such as myself who watch because their passionate about it. And that my friend is the answer to your question.

I like the First Airplane but not the Sequel. I also like the Police Academy Movies.

I agree, the Airplane movies are indeed classics. Every line and every scene in those movies is pure comedy genius.

Airplane II wasnt nearly as good as the first. Dont forget the Jerk, thats a good one too

They think you want a "serious" film. (Ever seen "Airport:1977"? That is even funnier than "Airplane!", but for all the wrong reasons)

I like the original "Airplane!" because of the low brow humor..."and don't call me Shirley"! :) By the way, "I speak jive".
