Unless you live in Scotland (where there really is a bird called a snipe) YES, its a trick. They just leave you out there to make an idiot of yourself while they sneak off to laugh at you with friends.

No! Snipe hunting is a blast! They are wiley little creatures, though....really hard to catch. Make sure you wear gloves, or they'll scratch you!

everyone said that to me when i was younger, asking if i wanted to go "snipe hunting" and they would just laugh. i get it now though
