i can't quite understand why americans call football soccer( no disrespect) and i can't understand why they call american football football? players don't use their legs do they?

well you cant have two sports with the same name. football has been going on in america since the 1900s. when the usa introduce soccer they had to call it soccer because they already had a sport called football.

There is Association football and rugby football.
American football evolved from rugby football.
Soccer is an abbreviation of asSOCiation football.
